Zap of Kay, Children's Spell
Range: RangeDuration: Instantaneous
Area of Effect: Special
Components: V, S, Place
Casting Time: 1 segment
Saving Throw: Special
This powerful spell can inflict a great deal of damage, but it harms the wizard in the process. With this spell, the wizard himself becomes a channel for a bolt of raw, destructive electrical energy. The wizard, however, becomes greatly damaged by this channeling; the more powerful the bolt, the more damage the wizard takes. When this spell is cast, the wild wizard takes 1d3 points of damage per level he posses, plus an optional 1 HP per level (the caster need not use all the optional damage). For each point of damage the wizard takes, the bolt does 1d6 in damage to the target. The wizard can cast this spell as if at a lower level in order to reduce damage taken. Certain spells will offer some protection against the bolt (for the target only): shield: absorbs one dice damage per round duration left, rounded up, shield duration reduced appropriately; other magics that effect magic missile effect the bolt (other than shield as said above.)
If the number of dice damage produced by the spell is more than 1 greater than the caster level the
target gets a save at +5 for no damage. Thus if a first level caster produced 3d6 or more of damage ( in this case 4d6 wold be the most possible) from this spell there target would save at +5 for no damage. Otherwise, the target save vs spell for half, and if a natural 20 is rolled they only take the same damage the MU took from using the spell in the first place.
The damage incurred from a zap, for both the caster and target, can be healed normally. This spell can only be cast in areas of high magic like Glantri, the area around high density stars and the Broken Lands. If the caster has and wears rabbit fur foot wear the spell does one extra damage. If he the target has metal armor they have a penalty of 1 to 3 to their saves and take +1 to +3 damage depending on the amount of metal armor (chain to plate) they are wearing.
