Background
Aldric McIvers is a man in his late twenties from the Principality of Klantyre. Born to neither a wealthy house nor an influential one, Aldric came to accept that - despite his thirst for knowledge and his desire to one day graduate from the Great School of Magic - his lot in life would forever be limited by his family's meager holdings and social standing. While the McIvers family held no vast fortunes nor stood in line for any great inheritances, they did have a lot of something...dough.Being the son of a family that ran the second-most popular bakery in town - the Puffy Muffin - gave Aldric more than his sugar-induced obesity, it also led him onto his path in life. Stuck as the McIvers' only child, he was - much to his displeasure - tasked with running deliveries across town in hopes that the exercise would counteract the family profession's effect on Aldric's waistline. His frustration with his duties often caused his mind to wander as he waddled around town, at times leading him into places he hadn't necessarily meant to go. It was one such wandering that brought him into earshot of a hushed sound carrying up through an open cellar window. Crouching down, the curious baker's apprentice listened as an initiation ceremony played itself out before his ears...an event that prying ears should not be hearing. Risking being caught, Aldric peered through the window, curious about these "Followers of the Claymore," as they called themselves...and recognized one of the men's faces as a semi-frequent patron of his father's bakery!
Intrigued and more than curious, Aldric walked found his way back to the Muffin, his mind a blur with thoughts of what he had just witnessed. Try as he might over the next few weeks, pushing that ceremony from his thoughts was impossible. He had always known that his destiny was to work with floured hands for the remainder of his days, but the realization that the Followers of the Claymore truly existed and met mere blocks from his home through his mind towards possibilities. Surely the Followers didn't require great wealth or status to climb through the ranks...and surely there was knowledge they held beyond recipes for pastries.
Set to leave the Puffy Muffin to his parents, Aldric spent the next two years befriending the man he saw through the window that fateful day. With the slipping of a hint here and there, the baker's apprentice found himself being initiated into an order of people that held no love for the Magocracy of Glantri. A baker by day, a Follower by night, Aldric learned the ways of an initiate of the Followers of the Claymore...and the Followers learned how adept Aldric was with the absorption of data. After only a year and a half into the organization, Aldric found himself bidding his family farewell and being shipped off for his first year as a 'plant' in the Great School of Magic. His task? Watch and learn from the inside. Inform the Followers of the Claymore about anything of note. Gain status and be prepared for subtle...actions...when necessary.

Followers of the Claymore
- Aldric must (obviously) keep his use of Divine magic a secret as long as he can, even when amongst companions.
- While Aldric has always wanted to attend the Great School of Magic, his newfound organization has had its sway on his perceptions on what is "right". The seeking of knowledge is a necessity for anyone that wishes to advance in life, but the magocracy as a whole is counter to what is necessary for a fully functional and stable government. Everyone should have a chance to rise beyond their station. While he is not as much of a fervent follower as some in his order, he will do his duty as needed...all while proving that he is not just a misplaced pastry chef. He aspires to succeed in the Great School of Magic as well as rise in the ranks of the Followers of the Claymore.
- Makes contact with the Followers of the Claymore at The Golden Imp.
